BestEssays.com indicates that it has been in business since 1997 and it further states that it has added to its services and staff over the years to become a full-service writing agency for academic and professional writing needs. It offers all of the common writing products, such as essays, papers, presentations, reviews, and so forth, as well as graduate level theses and dissertations. In the professional area, it provides resumes, CV, admissions and scholarship essays. Other products and services include media projects, editing, and proofreading.

Product Quality

This section of our reviews is the “meat,” because it is the quality of writers and products that make a service poor, fair, good, or superior. When customers order products and service, they expect high quality – well-researched pieces that are organized, academically sound and perfectly written and cited.

This area is one of concern as we look at BestEssays. It insists that it uses only English-speaking writers with Master’s and PH.D. degrees, but some of its claims are a bit over the top. For example, it states that it has 1200 writers with PH.D.’s in law. This is difficult to believe.

The site exhibits sample writings from its staff. We reviewed two of them – a Ph.D. level essay on defining right and wrong, and a college level book review on the novel, Speak. In both instances, there was a serious lack of coherency and flow, no thesis statement, and we were left wondering what the point of the pieces was.

On-site customer testimonials are positive, as expected, but off-site customer feedback and comments are critical of quality and service.

A research paper we ordered and received reflected the same poor quality.

Higher Than Average Prices

Prices range from $22 to $62 per page, which is higher than average. An 8-page paper we ordered was priced at $183.92 and even with a 15% new customer discount code, the price of $156.34 is still higher than average. There are other discounts based upon the total number of pages ordered and a discount coupon occasionally available for newsletter subscribers.

Customer Support

As most writing services, the customer support department is available by phone, chat or email 24/7. We called and asked the same questions that we ask of all support department. The responses were scripted and not helpful.

Conclusion

This service is certainly legit; however, not so much as X-essays.com is. We found the quality and support disappointing and question some of the claims the site makes. Our rating of Best Essays is “Below Average.”
